TORONTO, ON–The entertainment world has the EGOT, the ultimate four-part awards show accomplishment of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.

Well, now the Canadian ad industry has the ELOC: Effie, Lion, One Show, and Clio trophy. Any agency winning all four in one year will get a special commemorative trophy holder from the Institute of Communications Agencies, the presenter of the Effies in Canada.

“The Effies is the only Canadian advertising award that has international stature,” said ICA president and CEO Scott Knox. “We wanted to remind Canadian agencies that winning an Effie is on par with a Cannes Lion, a One Show Pencil or a Clio—the top four International awards. And to help make that point, we created this gesture of admiration for the agencies who have completed the full set.”

Only a handful of Canadian agencies or brands could have claimed the achievement in 2019, the first year of Effie Canada: Bensimon Byrne, Cossette, Rethink and SickKids Foundation.

“The launch of Effie Canada in 2019 demonstrated how much world-class work is being produced in Canada,” said Arthur Fleischmann, Effie Canada 2020 chairperson, and Group CEO of Ogilvy and john st. “And Effie Canada 2020 promises to be even better. We’re planning a new event format to reach a wider audience and create an interactive and engaging experience. Plus, we’re working with our Effie Worldwide partners on a new initiative to put the best of Canada on the global stage.”

The deadline for entries has been extended: you now have until Dec. 6 to complete your submissions. Visit effiecanada.com today for more Effie Canada info, case-study samples from around the globe and to begin completing your entry.
